What's your favourite Christmas tradition?
One of the reasons Christmas is such a special time for so many of us is because of our traditions. There is something about practicing these rituals among family and friends that brings joy and vitality into the season like nothing else. However, as time goes by, the reality is that traditions begin to fade; as families and seasons change, the rhythms and rites that we used to practice are no longer what they used to be. When it comes to a lot of our Christmas traditions, the old adage is true, "all good things come to an end."
The good news of the real message of Christmas is that Jesus came to establish a Kingdom without end! And we are invited into His everlasting Kingdom that is full of unfading joy, life and peace!
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7
In this week's advent teaching, we explore the unfailing and unfading Kingdom of God that Jesus has established! I think it's extra important during this crazy year, where so many of our Christmas plans have been disrupted, that we remind ourselves that the real message of Christmas is about a Kingdom that cannot be shaken.
I pray this message encourages you today.
This is "An Everlasting Kingdom."
Grace and Peace
